With A-Wa (pronounced “ay-wa”), oral tradition has never been so attractive!
The three sisters Haim were raised in a small village in the desert of Shaharut in southern Israel listening to folk music of their homeland, Yemen. They add contemporary electronic beats to these traditional songs to create an unstoppable shaabi with a groovy funky disco touch. This cultural mix and wild aesthetics are present in their clip “Habib Galbi”.
classTheir debute album was produced by Tomer Yosef, leader of Balkan Beat Box and also of Yemeni origin, in the studio where Asaf Avidan also worked. This trio will definitely be one of the next summer sensations!
